Frequently Asked QuestionsDomain Appraisal

WeValuer.com frequently asked questions.

Q.  Why should I get a domain name appraisal?

It isn't easy to determine the true value of a domain name.  Just looking at the name and guessing will not help, and just because a name sounds good or looks good doesn't mean it is valuable.  We have extensively studied domain name sales to derive an accurate, fair and dependable model of domain name values.  For buyers it is beneficial to get a domain name appraisal because you will be in a better bargaining position when you know the true value of the domain name you want to purchase.  For sellers it is beneficial to get a domain name appraisal because it gives you a great starting point on knowing how much to ask for you domain- Start with a price too low and you may regret it forever, start with a price too high and it may never sell at all.

Q.  How do you determine the value of a domain name?

We have spent large amounts of time studying the domain name industry to develop an in depth understanding of what makes up a domains value. Most other services consider only 4 to 5 characteristics to assess the value of a domain name.   We have our own proprietary statistical model that considers 10 diifferent attributes in factoring your domain value including:

- length of domain name (number of letters or numbers, number or words, number of hyphens)

- domain marketability (small, medium, or large market)

- probability that the domain name will be properly spelled by  customers

- probability that the domain name will be accurately recalled at a later date.

- potential of the domain name to be associated to site content or different content.

- the TLD value of the domain name (e.g. .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, etc.)

- previous sales prices, MOST important factor

- SEO potential (Keyword popularity, Phrase popularity, PPC Popularity)

- Current event rating vs. long term rating.

- Another secret measuring aspect, hey, we can't give it all away!
